Coaches Comment:

The Burke Invite turned out to be one of the tougher tournaments of the year for the team. In the invite, a new method of bracketing was used for the first time. Pool Play wrestling was used at Burke to allow wrestlers to get more matches throughout the day. This tournament allowed all of our wrestlers to get four or five matches on the day.

The only problem was that we were coming off a very tough and emotional Metro win. As a testament to the type of team we have, finishing 1st was, indeed, very gratifying. However, we didn’t wrestle anywhere near our best at this tournament which is to be expected. We also had to do without the services of Greg Garcia who was sick. We were happy to be able to move Curtis Miller up to 112 where he turned in a gutsy performance in earning 3rd place. We were also very happy to place all 14 wrestlers in this competition.
